FAQs

  • Hot mop is a waterproofing method that has been used for over 50 years to secure tight water seals on surfaces like showers, roman tubs, planters, decks and balconies.

  • Hot mop is the best method because of its versatility, whether surfaces are rounded, flat or angled corners when applied correctly asphalt and perforated felt paper can waterproof it all.

  • We recommend all remodeled showers have a new drain installed, but if possible a pre-existing drain will work.

  • There are many correct drains that can be used for the hot mop process but the most important important characteristic that all correct drains will have is a top and bottom flange, held together with either 3 or 4 removable bolts.

  • We recommend all showers get water tested, wetherits being inspected by the city or not. Water testing the shower pans ensures the hot mop was properly installed.

  • We recommend to start working 24 hours after hot mop was completed.

  • We use low odor asphalt in all our jobs, however the duration of the smell depends on many variables such as ventilation, weather, etc. In most cases the smell should be gone in a few hours.
